EMDR Therapy

Ebb and Flow counselling therapists are trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy.  EMDR is an extensively researched evidence based therapy for treating trauma.

What is EMDR?

EMDR is a "bottom up" 8 phase trauma therapy. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, often in the form of eye movements or tapping,  and an adaptive information processing model to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories, reducing their emotional intensity at distressing symptoms.

What does EMDR treat?

EMDR was developed and extensively researched as a trauma and PTSD treatment. Beyond it's initial application, research has shown effectiveness in treating depression, anxiety, OCD, chronic pain and addiction.
